Pippa and the Brain Tumour Charity

In late August 2024 our grandaughter Pippa was diagnosed with a brain tumour, she was a month shy of her second birthday. What followed was the stuff of nightmares and of hope and incredible gratitude to the staff of the NHS. Pippa was treated at Birmingham Children's Hospital, it’s where she had one very big operation and several more trips to the operating theatre. There followed seven weeks at the Christie Hospital in Manchester for proton beam therapy and then back to Birmingham for chemotherapy. There is a lot more to the story than that, countless more trips to hospitals, some routine, some urgent. Everyone around Pippa is grateful to the staff at various NHS hospitals.

In selling my art I decided I wanted to donate a portion of whatever I sold to charity. I talked with my daughter and son in law and asked which charity I should choose and they suggested the Brain Tumour Charity, who have been a constant help to them over the past two years.

Pippa is doing great, she is still the happy little girl she always was. She is over a year cancer free, that is taken from the time she finished chemotherapy in May 2025. She is at nursery, which she loves and is doing all the things you’d expect an almost four year old to be doing. The journey hasn't ended, routine scans and hospital visits are still very much a part of her life but she meets it all in her stride and as always the Brain Tumour Charity is there for support and advice.
